Looking for a sensible, affordable, hassle-free solution to deal with household rubbish, construction materials or garden waste in Bolton? Skip hire is a fantastic idea – it can even save you tireless trips to the local tip. But certain items need to be disposed of separately from skips.
Specialising in Bolton skip hire, Adlington Skips can guide and advise you on what can and can’t go in our skips to ensure you avoid hefty fines for not complying with skip hire legislations.
What can you put in a skip from Adlington Skips?
Our skips come in various shapes and sizes and are great for storing heavy bulky items that don’t fit in your wheelie bin. Feel free to fill your skip with the following:
- ceramics and tiles
- food waste and packaging
- garden waste
- household waste
- non-electrical fittings
If you don’t see the material you need to dispose of listed, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we don’t accept it. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so before you throw it in the skip, call us on 01257 474 747 for confirmation or ask your local council to ensure you avoid violation charges.
So what can’t you put in our skips?
Unfortunately, skip hire Bolton isn’t suitable for all kinds of waste, take fluorescent bulbs for instance. These contain mercury and need to be taken to your local recycling centre.
Whether it be a microwave, cooker, dishwasher or TV, electrical appliances must be taken to your local registered WEEE recycling centre. You also need to keep batteries out of our skips and either take them to the recycling centre or the special disposal facilities at supermarkets.
Instead of throwing tyres in one of our skips, you can either recycle them, contact the Tyre Recovery Organisation to find out where the nearest collection point is, or ask the company who fitted your new tyre to dispose of the old one for you.
Syringes and biological waste are types of medical waste – not suitable for our skips. You need to take it to a licensed medical waste disposal company.
Asbestos cannot be recycled or reused. It requires special disposal and should only be handled by a licensed asbestos removal contractor to eliminate health problems. Another material not to be mixed with waste in our skips includes plasterboard which you can take to your local recycling plant.
